Ruahine Kindergartens

Welcome to West End Kindergarten

At West End Kindergarten we foster competent and creative thinkers, who share ideas, learn together and inspire each other.

We recognise the unique bicultural heritage of Aotearoa; celebrating the individuality and mana of each child.  We nurture positive and respectful relationships, supporting the emotional wellbeing, cultural identity and diversity of all learners.  Our environment is rich in learning experiences to empower learners to embrace challenge. Our tamariki are encouraged to lead their own learn and persevere with difficulty, building a resilient "I can" attitude.  We are learning what it means to be a kaitiaki - a guardian of Aotearoa, showing atawhai (kindness) and kawenga (responsibility) towards our environment while developing sustainable practices.

E rûnâ ana to tâtou waka i te kaha o tokomaha - We steer our waka with the strengths of many.

What Our Whānau Say

" Thank you West End Kindergarten!!!  It’s a sad moment to have my kids leave such a fantastic pre-school education centre, As a father of 9 I have had a number of my children go through several different kindergartens in Palmerston North and West End tops them all! From growing your own vegetables, making you own yoghurt, promoting healthy eating and implementing lunchboxes to promote recycling/eliminating packaging are only a few to name, such a wonderful bunch of Kaiako Rangatira koutou! Thanks for being such a awesome group of teachers to my Sons Ali and Lincoln! Much appreciated!!!

Our tamariki were out and about at Ahimate Reserve, the wet and wild weather never deterred us because we had our amazing wet weather gear on.  Lucky for us it was the West End School’s Cross Country Run day and we got to see a few of the races. We were able to say hello to family who were down there for the sports day.
